How much does a website cost in NZ?
A DIY website builder costs $49 to $150+GST a month on NZ-made Rocketspark. Professional quotes for a small practice or service business site commonly range from $3,500 to $12,000, while our builds start from $1,495+GST for solo practitioners and $2,995+GST for clinics.
Ongoing care, hosting and support typically adds $67 to $147 a month. The right figure depends on how much of the work you want done for you.
| Option | Upfront | Monthly | Who does the work | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DIY builder (Rocketspark) | $0 | $49 to $150 | You | Starting out on a tight budget |
| Wellness Websites Practitioner | From $1,495 | Care from $67 | Us | Solo practitioners and coaches |
| Wellness Websites Clinic | From $2,995 | Care from $67 | Us | Multi-practitioner clinics |
| Typical agency practice site | $3,500 to $12,000 | Varies | The agency | Businesses wanting a full-service agency |
| Brand, ecommerce or custom software | Custom quote | Varies | Us or an agency | Product brands and larger platforms |
Why do website prices vary so much?
Five things move the price most: the number of pages, who writes the content, booking or payment integrations, online shops, and any custom features such as member areas.
A five-page site with your words ready and one booking link is quick. A multi-location clinic with practitioner profiles, online payments and a member area is a different project.
Why are our prices lower than many agency quotes?
Focus. After 17 years and 222 websites, mostly for health and service businesses, the page structure, booking flow and search groundwork are already proven, so you pay for the parts unique to your business.
We also build on modern edge technology rather than WordPress, which removes much of the server setup and plugin configuration that inflates traditional quotes.
What ongoing costs should I budget for?
Plan for monthly care from day one. Our Support plan is $67 a month, Momentum $97 and MultiClinic $147, each including hosting, SSL, daily backups and security monitoring.
Larger changes are $120+GST an hour, and SEO plans start from $497 a month if you want active ranking work. Domain renewals and business email are usually small separate costs.
Hidden costs to ask about before you sign
These are the items that most often surprise people after the quote is accepted.
- 1Content writing: is it included, or are you expected to supply every word?
- 2Photography: stock images are cheap, but real photos of you and your space convert better.
- 3Booking software: does the site connect to your system? ClientWell, for example, offers a 30-day free trial and works with any website.
- 4Changes after launch: how many are included, and what is the hourly rate afterwards?
- 5Hosting and care: is it bundled, or a separate bill from another provider?
How long does a website take to build?
Four to six weeks from signed proposal to launch is typical for a practice site when content is ready on time. Larger clinic or ecommerce projects take longer.
When a DIY builder is genuinely the right call
If you are just starting out, have more time than budget and need a simple online presence, a builder like Rocketspark is a sensible place to begin. We would rather say that plainly than sell you something you do not need yet.
The switch usually makes sense once enquiries matter more than saving the monthly fee, or when the hours spent editing start costing you appointments.
